The annual Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star series saw the first of two games go to the Bluegrass State and a future Wildcat.
On Friday night at Lexington Catholic High School, Kentucky men’s basketball incoming freshman Travis Perry helped lead the Kentucky All-Stars past the Indiana All-Stars by a final score of 103-82. Although it wasn’t Perry’s best scoring night — 12 points on 2-8 shooting — he and the rest of the Kentucky All-Stars received a massive second-half boost from Oldham County’s Max Green, who is committed to play college ball at Holy Cross.
At the halftime break, which saw the Indiana All-Stars lead 49-43, Green had just 11 points (albeit on a perfect 5-5 shooting). Perry had 10 of his 11 total points in the first half as well. But a switch was flipped for Green after the intermission — the 6-foot-6 guard poured in 26 points during the second half.
The Kentucky All-Stars were helped by the fact that five-star center and Kansas commit Flory Bidunga was hit with a technical and then quickly fouled out with roughly 10 minutes to play. Once his 6-foot-9, 215-pound frame was off the floor, Green and the rest of the Kentucky All-Stars began to cruise.
Green finished with a game-high 36 points on 14-16 shooting, including a 5-7 mark from long range. He also chipped in five rebounds and one assist. In addition to Perry’s 12 points, he contributed three rebounds, three assists, and five steals to his stat line.
The Kentucky All-Stars’ 21-point margin of victory was its largest since 1997. Check out the full box score below.
Prior to the game, which was preceded by the girls’ version of the same event (Indiana won that matchup, 90-79), Perry was recognized as the 2024 Kentucky Mr. Basketball winner. He was joined by 2024 Kentucky Miss Basketball winner Trinity Rowe from Pikeville, who is committed to play at Southern Miss.
Up next, the two-game series will shift to Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers) for what will be the final high school game of Perry’s career before he fully immerses himself into the college way of life. The Eddyville, KY native already moved into his new home at the Wildcat Coal Lodge on UK’s campus earlier this week.
Game two between the Kentucky and Indiana All-Stars will take place in Indy on Saturday. The girls’ game will start at 5:00 p.m. EST with the boys game to follow at 7:30 p.m. EST.
