A major lorry fire has sparked travel chaos on a stretch of UK motorway, with authorities warning it will take “some time” before the blaze can be brought under control.
A post on the National Highways website reads: “The M11 in Essex is closed northbound between J9 Stump Cross Interchange (Newmarket, Norwich A11) and J10 Duxford Interchange (Duxford, Royston A505).
“This is due to a lorry which has caught fire. Due to the nature of the lorry’s load (batteries) it will take some time to bring this fire under control.”
Express.co.uk has contacted the emergency services for further information.
