TNT Sports viewers were left frustrated by the channel’s coverage of Tottenham‘s Europa League game against Ferencvarosi.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side headed to Budapest to take on the Hungarian champions in the second round of matches in the league phase of the competition having beaten Qarabag 3-0 at home a week ago.
Their opponents have been a recent dominant force in their domestic league and were the better side early doors, though Tottenham grew into the game and took the lead in the first half through Pape Matar Sarr, winning 2-1 overall.
The goal left Spurs fans celebrating but those watching on were left frustrated before the goal due to a TNT Sports blunder.
And it wasn’t just Tottenham supporters, with viewers of the game taking to social media to express their frustrations at commentary seemingly being behind the picture being shown.
Fans were left fuming by TNT Sports’ coverage of Tottenham’s Europa League game against Ferencvarosi
The commentary for the game appeared delayed by a few seconds towards the start of the game
Viewers took to social media to vent their frustrations before the blunder was corrected
‘The commentary of the #Spurs game on TNT Sports 1 is about 5 seconds behind the game,’ one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter, tagging in the broadcaster.
‘Can you sort it out please it’s making it unwatchable,’ they added, accompanied by two angry-face emojis.
Another viewer posted: ‘Anyone else’s commentary behind right now on TNT Sports? It’s infuriating.’
A third joked: ‘Sam Matterface is that far behind on commentary here on TNT sports that Ledley King is playing.’
Matterface was on commentary for the game, with TNT regular Glenn Hoddle on co-comms.
It was a big night of European action for the Premier League teams, with Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United all playing.
As Spurs travelled to Hungary, Chelsea hosted Gent and United faced Porto away from home.
Pape Mater Sarr scored the opening goal of the game for Tottenham in what was their second match of the competition
One fans joked that ex-Spurs defender Ledley King was still playing because the commentary was so far behind
The apparent delay on commentary was soon fixed, but it didn’t stop viewers venting their frustrations online.
Another fan wrote: ‘Can just about live with TNT Sports not broadcasting European games in 4K, but I draw the line at the commentary being so far behind the video feed that Pochettino is still our manager.’
A fifth added: ‘Anyone’s audio delayed on TNT sports? Commentary and crowd noise,’ and received 11 replies.
