Utah State forward Great Osobor, who is ranked as the No. 5 transfer in the portal by 247Sports, has scheduled four official visits, according to his agent, George Langberg.
Osobor, the Mountain West Player and Newcomer of the Year, will visit Kentucky (April 29), Louisville (May 1), Texas Tech (May 4) and Washington (May 7).
New UK head coach Mark Pope flew out to meet with Osobor on Friday.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game with 15 double-doubles in helping lead the Aggies to a 28-7 record overall and a 14-4 mark in the Mountain West Conference as Utah State advanced to the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament before falling to top-seeded Purdue.
“Great Osobor broke out as one of the top transfers from last spring when he moved from Montana State to Utah State,” wrote 247Sports national recruiting analyst Travis Branham. “He’s a strong and very skilled big with outstanding hands and footwork. Osobor is a major impact player due to his ability to score, rebound, block shots and pass.”
Osobor, who began his collegiate career at Montana State, holds career averages of 11.3 points. 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 104 games over three seasons with the Bobcats and Aggies.
Interestingly, Osobor and recent Kentucky signee Amari Williams were former prep teammates in England and also share the same agent. Williams announced he will transfer from Drexel to UK following an official visit to Lexington over the weekend.
Since being hired to replace John Calipari as the new Kentucky head coach earlier this month, Pope has been a busy man trying to fill out both his roster and staff.
BYU assistant Cody Fueger will follow Pope to Lexington in the same role. Former USC assistant and NBA G League Ignite head coach Jason Hart has also joined Pope’s staff. Former Nevada, Georgia, and California head coach Mark Fox, who gave Pope his coaching start with the Bulldogs in 2009-10, is expected to follow.
Currently, the Wildcats only have three scholarship players on its 2024-25 roster in Williams, former 4-star 2022 BYU signee Collin Chandler, who is returning from a 2-year Mormon mission, 2024 4-star UK signee and Kentucky Mr. Basketball Travis Perry, who reaffirmed his commitment to the Wildcats Monday night.
