Day Two of the festival at Doncaster includes several high-profile races with competitive fields. The Flying Scotsman Stakes features some of the most exciting juveniles, such as Jonquil, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, and Symbol of Honour, who enters the race after a strong performance at Royal Ascot. While Jonquil is the favourite, many believe Symbol of Honour could be the one to challenge the market leader.
In the Flying Childers Stakes, the pace will be electric, with Magnum Force looking to capitalise on his impressive run at York, though Big Mojo could also make his presence felt. Moving on to the Doncaster Cup, the battle over two miles will test the endurance of the field, with Gregory and Trueshan looking particularly well-suited to this trip. With such a diverse mix of speed and stamina required across today’s races, punters will need to consider the unique demands of each contest.

The Flying Childers Stakes looks to be a fiercely competitive race, but Magnum Force has a strong chance of victory. Trained by Ger Lyons, this juvenile was unlucky not to win at York’s Ebor meeting, where he encountered traffic problems but still finished a close second. That run marked him as a horse with plenty of speed and potential, and the return to five furlongs here could be key to him grabbing his first Group 2 victory. His previous win at Cork over the minimum trip also adds to the confidence that this race will suit him perfectly. Magnum Force is the standout selection today, making him the Nap of the Day.

In a highly anticipated Flying Scotsman Stakes, Symbol of Honour catches the eye as a solid bet. This colt, trained by Charlie Appleby, has proven himself in top-class company, finishing just a length behind the winner in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. With form in the book that looks stronger than that of Jonquil, and the ability to handle today’s conditions, Symbol of Honour offers excellent value at around 3/1. Appleby’s yard may not be in peak form, but this horse has shown enough quality to suggest he can outclass his rivals here.

John and Thady Gosden’s Gregory may not have tasted victory since Royal Ascot last year, but this long-distance trip could be ideal for him. After underwhelming performances over longer distances, notably in the Ascot Gold Cup, Gregory has shown a preference for slightly shorter trips. His third-place finishes behind high-class stayers Kyprios and Vauban in recent months suggest he retains his ability. The two-mile-plus trip today may offer the perfect balance for this strong stayer to outlast his rivals, with stablemate Sweet William perhaps posing the biggest threat. Gregory should be well-positioned to take advantage of any tactical errors in what promises to be a fascinating contest.

The British Stallion Studs Fillies’ Handicap offers an intriguing betting puzzle, but Bint Al Daar is worth supporting. This filly has been ultra-consistent in her last four starts, posting form figures of 1212. Her second-place finish at York three weeks ago was arguably her best run to date, and with further improvement likely, she could prove hard to beat despite a rise in the weights. Her toughness and battling spirit will stand her in good stead in this competitive field, and she looks well-equipped to handle the demands of today’s race. Although favourite Cabrera has obvious claims, Bint Al Daar offers much better value at around 7/1.
