Thousand of UK families could get two £100 voucher payments to help pay grocery bills.
The support is provided through the Household Support Fund (HSF) scheme, which has been extended until September 2024.
Under the scheme, each council gets a different portion of funding depending on the size of the catchment area, population, and need.
Households could get supermarket vouchers or cash grants worth £100s, reports The Sun.
However, the exact amount each family gets will depend on where they live, so they must check what they can get and how the council will pay them.
Some councils will distribute payments automatically, while others will require you to complete an application form.
For instance, residents in the London Borough of Ealing may receive two £100 supermarket vouchers in the coming weeks.
Care leavers will receive one voucher in May and another in July. Families eligible for free school meals-related benefits will also receive vouchers: £15 per child in May and £90 per child in July.
Similarly, families with children under five, receiving housing benefits or council tax reductions, will be eligible.
There’s no need to apply as eligible families will be contacted directly.
The payments will be made using supermarket vouchers provided by the council’s partner, Blackhawk.
If families are eligible, they will receive an email or letter from Blackhawk containing a 16-digit personalised code and instructions to redeem the vouchers via www.ealingcouncil.select-your-reward.co.uk.
To inquire about assistance, contact your local council, as they are responsible for distributing the funding.
You can find your local council at www.gov.uk/find-local-council. Each council will have its own application process, so visit their website for specific details.
Since eligibility requirements may differ, it’s important to check with your council. Some councils will contact you if you qualify, while others may require you to apply.
If your council’s website doesn’t provide information, contact them directly for assistance.
