Thorpe Park: Works ongoing to reopen UK’s tallest rollercoaster
The UK’s tallest rollercoaster will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Hyperia shut the day after it opened at Thorpe Park on 25 May.
In an update, the theme park in Chertsey, Surrey, said: “We recently communicated that we are unable to commit to re-opening Hyperia before Saturday 8 June.
“Understandably, many of you have been eagerly anticipating further updates and fairly assumed that the 8 June would be reopening day for the ride. However, unfortunately that is not going to be possible.”
Hyperia is 236ft (72m) tall and has a top speed of 81mph.
The theme park said the closure followed “standard technical pre-opening procedure checks”, but has not given further details.
It added that teams were working to get the rollercoaster “back up and running as soon as they possibly can”.
