‘This is catastrophic’ Rising English PGA Tour star ruled out of Farmers Insurance Open
England’s Harry Hall has become the eighth player to withdraw from this week’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
Hall, 27, has been consistently playing to a high standard on the PGA Tour lately with seven top-25 finishes in his last eight starts.
That has included two top-10s in three events to start the 2025 season.
Hall is currently 82nd in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), which marks the best ranking of his career so far.
The talented Englishman, who resides in Las Vegas, won his first PGA Tour title at the ISCO Championship last July.
But Hall has decided to WD from the Farmers Insurance Open, which starts on Wednesday.
No official reason has yet been disclosed for his withdrawal.

Hall joins a star-studded list of WDs this week, none bigger than World No.2 Xander Schauffele and World No.5 Collin Morikawa.
Other big-name players to remove their names from the field include PGA Tour winners Akshay Bhatia and Mackenzie Hughes, as well as European Ryder Cup player Nicolai Hojgaard.
American duo Tyler McCumber and Chesson Hadley have also decided to withdraw from the tournament.
Hayden Springer, Wesley Bryan, Pierceson Coody, S.H. Kim, Garrick Higgo, Carl Yuan and Matt NeSmith have been named as replacements in the field.
“This is catastrophic,” wrote one disgruntled PGA Tour fan on social media after learning an eighth player had withdrawn from one of the PGA Tour’s most coveted events of the regular season.
Another commented: “This is looking more and more like a Korn Ferry Tour event by the hour.”
“Seriously bad news for the PGA Tour with all these WDs at Torrey, what on earth is going on?!” wrote one fan.
The Farmers Insurance Open was established in 1954.
Farmers Insurance are pulling the plug on their title sponsorship of the event in 2026.

Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama are the pre-tournament favourites for the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open.
The tournament is staged over both South and North Courses at Torrey Pines over the first two rounds.
Then those players making the cut play the tougher South Course over the weekend.
The event starts on Wednesday and concludes on Saturday.
That is so it doesn’t clash with the two NFL matches taking place on Sunday.
