Ballymoney in Northern Ireland is home to some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. Made famous through the popular show, Game of Thrones, it has experienced a boom in tourism.
The most popular place to visit in the area is the Dark Hedges which is a photogenic row of trees that feature in the show.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “This is a stunning countryside road flanked with ancient beech trees. The site also benefits from ample parking and a coffee shop for those needing a rest and a brew.
“The dark hedges road is closed to traffic (except access for farm vehicles), so a pleasant walk through the trees is an absolute must.”
Many visiting the area will take a road trip and stop off at a few natural beauty spots along the way.
The hedges are located just 20 minutes away from other popular attractions in Northern Ireland and are not far away from Giant’s Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.
Ballymoney is the perfect place to visit in autumn and even though it is a coastal town, it’s just as good even if the sun isn’t shining.
To get there, you can fly to Belfast and then Ballymoney is located one hour away by car. Less than an hour away from Ballymoney, you can also visit Tollymore Forest Park which sits at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. It spans over 1,500 acres, with views of the surrounding mountains and the Irish Sea.
It is the second safest small town in the county of Antrim, and is among the top 20 safest overall out of Antrim’s 33 towns, villages, and cities.
