This UK airport is England’s busiest and has recently broken one of its own record.
Heathrow is one of England’s main airports for long-haul flights and international travel.
Last month, it served over 6.5 million passengers, the highest-ever figure recorded for November.
The airport connects to over 234 destinations globally and now it is preparing for one of the busiest travel times of the year – Christmas.
On Christmas Day this year, the airport expects the number of passengers to increase by 21 percent, in comparison to last year.
Moreover, in November the airport saw Singapore (SIN), Edinburgh (EDI), Lisbon (LIS), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Chicago (ORD), Zurich (ZRH), Mumbai (BOM) and Paris (CDG) all joining the ‘Millionaire Club’, with over a million passengers travelling on those routes.
This month, Heathrow expects 25 routes to reach over a million passengers.
Heathrow will host festive activities across the terminals in December including seasonal crafts and the opportunity for children to meet Santa Claus.
If you’re travelling at Christmas, keep an eye out for the festivities the major airport has to offer.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said: “This year has been all about providing high levels of service for record amounts of passengers at Heathrow, and November was no different.
“As we embrace the festive season, our focus remains on ensuring smooth, joyful journeys – whether it is helping passengers get away for Christmas to reunite with their loved ones, or making sure cargo reaches its destination on time.
“Make sure to look out for our exciting seasonal surprises throughout the terminals, as we aim to make this holiday season magical for those travelling through Heathrow.”
