Taylor Swift will be playing 24 hours, seven days a week on a new pop-up radio station, but fans were left panicking after the surprise announcement.
Capital FM recently posted a photo of the hit singer on their socials, leading many to assume she’d be headlining the station’s Summertime Ball.
Thousands of fans across the UK are eagerly anticipating her Eras Tour shows in England, Scotland and Wales over the next two months.
Taylor currently has the Summertime Ball date, Sunday, June 16, open, so a surprise appearance is unlikely but not impossible.
However, instead of an unexpected live show, Capital will instead be launching Capital (Taylor’s Version), the first-ever UK DAB radio station dedicated to just one artist.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, the station wrote: “Once upon a time, the planets and the fates and the stars aligned… and Capital (Taylor’s Version) was born.
“@taylorswift13 | The Eras Tour is coming to the UK, and to celebrate we’re playing Taylor’s biggest tracks 24/7 on our dedicated Swift music station!”
Upon glimpsing the announcement, at first, many Swifties were left panicking at the prospect of another mad scramble for tickets to an as-yet-unannounced concert.
Per Metro, one fan replied: “I thought they were announcing her as a STB headliner then I panicked.”
“I s**t myself because I thought she was announced as a headliner for the capital summertime ball,” another said.
And a third commented on Instagram: “I genuinely thought she was gonna be announced for the Ball. Oh well off I go listen to the station instead.” (sic)
Although there has been no announcement with the Ball less than two weeks away, some UK fans are still convinced Taylor will drop in for a surprise set.
Users have pointed out that Capital made their new station announcement with a picture of Big Ben set to 2:30, around the same time the Ball will officially commence.
“Wild theory but I think Taylor Swift could be a surprise artist for the Capital Summertime ball,” one X user said.
“She’s in Liverpool on the 15th and doesn’t perform in Cardiff until the 18th.”
While one disgruntled fan said: “That summertime ball line up is awful. Glad I’m not bothering this year. The only way they’d make it better is if Taylor Swift is the surprise act being announced tomorrow.”
So far, Taylor has only confirmed her UK dates for the Eras Tour – including an extra two shows at Wembley Stadium – but fans are still itching to see if she has another secret show up her sleeve.
