Bic, the French specialist in pens, lighters, and razors, has acquired full ownership of Tangle Teezer, the renowned British brand of hairbrushes and accessories, in a €200 million deal with Mayfair Equity Partners.
Founded in London in 2007, Tangle Teezer debuted with its now-iconic, brightly coloured detangling hairbrush, crafted from lightweight plastic. By 2024, the brand had achieved an annual turnover of €70 million, offering a diverse range of patented brushes designed to detangle hair while minimising damage, along with hair accessories and care products such as sprays. Over the past four years, Tangle Teezer has doubled in size and gained significant market share in the highly competitive hairbrush and comb segment, valued at €4.5 billion.
“We are thrilled to acquire a leading brand in a dynamic and fast-growing category where we can add value,” said Gonzalve Bich, CEO of Bic. “Both companies share a joyful, innovative, and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as a shared vision for growth,” he added.
