Match | Date (IST) | Time (IST) | Teams | Venue |
---|---|---|---|---|
Semi Final 1 | June 27, 2024 | 6 AM | TBD vs TBD | Trinidad |
Semi Final 2 | June 27, 2024 | 8 PM | TBD vs India | Guyana |
We will get a clear idea of which teams will play both semi-finals at Trinidad and Guyana, after the conclusion of final set of Group 1 and Group 2 games in the Super 8 stage. It will be dependent on the final standings of teams in the Super 8 groups.
The team that finishes first in Group 1 will play the team that finishes second in Group 2, and the team that finishes second in Group 1 will play the team that finishes first in Group 2.
However, if India qualifies, they will play the Semi Final 2 at Guyana, irrespective of whether they finish first or second in their Super 8 group. The final standings in Group 1 will still be important, to decide who their opponent will be in the knockout match.

As things stand, Team India is in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals due to superior Net Run Rate (NRR), but it still remains to be confirmed whether they finish first or second in the group.
To keep it simple, if India finishes first in Group 1, they will play the Semi Final 2 at Guyana, against the team that finished second in Group 2, which is England. The chances of this happening are extremely high.
On the other hand, if India finishes second in Group 1, they will still play Semi Final 2 at Guyana, but against the team that finished first in Group 2, which has now been confirmed to be South Africa.
The Semi Final 1 of the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played at Trinidad between the team that qualifies from Group 1 alongside India (likely Australia or Afghanistan), and one of the two teams from Group 2, that is, whichever team that does not play India in Semi Final 2.
