Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham were Kentucky basketball teammates, but they recently squared off against each other as professionals for the first time.
Dillingham went 6 of 21 from the field and scored 15 points in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 93-83 NBA summer league victory over the Houston Rockets. He added five rebounds and six assists Thursday night in Las Vegas.
Sheppard, who played for North Laurel High School, scored a team-high 20 points for the Rockets, making 9 of 17 shots from the field, and added five rebounds and seven assists.

Scott County High School softball alum Carly Oliver is scheduled to compete Monday night at the Northwoods League All-Star Home Run Challenge in Mankato, Minnesota.
Seven baseball participants from each of the Great Lakes and the Great Plains divisions will be joined by four players, including Oliver, from the inaugural season of Northwoods League Softball. The event will feature a nine-inning competition, according to a news release.
Oliver just wrapped up her senior season at the University of the Cumberlands, where she was an NFCA second-team All-American and Golden Glove recipient.
The second baseman batted .349, with a team-high 10 home runs.
At Scott County, Oliver was a member of the 2019 All-State team and won KHSAA state championships in 2016 and 2018.
Marshall County High School’s Trinity Beth is one of 25 girls nominated for the 2023-2024 USA TODAY HSSA Girls Golfer of the Year Award, sponsored by Golfweek.
Last year, Beth carded a 3-under-par 141 at Bowling Green Country Club to win her second consecutive state championship.
