James Wilkie Broderick has landed his first starring role in an upcoming TV show, alongside his famous dad.
The 22-year-old, son of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, will be following on in their acting footsteps with his latest project.
According to reports, the university student will be guest starring in an episode of Elsbeth, set to premiere next year.
He will be joined by a very familiar face as his dad, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off icon Matthew, is set to serve as the special guest star for the episode – marking the first time the pair will share the screen together.
Deadline reports that they will be part of a storyline centering on college admission consulting, with the 62-year-old starring as Lawrence Grey, who helps the offspring of Manhattan’s elite get into their dream universities in whatever way possible.
However, he is said to be driven to murder when someone threatens his status in the community – while James will take on the role of his ‘success trainer’, Carl.
The outlet confirmed the news on Instagram this week, with a snap of the father-and-son duo posing together on the red carpet.
Despite the huge announcement, there was only one thing on anyone’s mind in the comments below, as they couldn’t get over the budding actor’s resemblance to Sarah Jessica.
Mariemaxx replied: ‘He looks just like his mom!’
Claudia.mm6 quipped: ‘Sarah Jessica copy paste.’
Dana_cinema agreed: ‘He looks like his mom.’
Elsbeth, a spin-off of the Good Wife, premiered in February of this year, following Carrie Preston as the titular character, who swapped her law career to help the NYPD.
This isn’t James’ first stint in Hollywood as he previously appeared in a small role in Apple TV+ series, Lady in the Lake, also starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram.
But SJP declared that none of her children – including her son and twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion – will be making a surprise appearance in her hit show, And Just Like That…
In a recent chat with E! News, the Carrie Bradshaw legend was asked whether she had plans to introduce the youngsters in a cameo.
‘Not mine,’ she insisted. ‘Absolutely not.’
