SKY SPORTS were forced to apologise after their coverage of Premier League Darts went down.
Darts fans had settled down ready to watch Night 5 of the Premier League in Brighton.
However, fans watching on Main Event were instead greeted with a white screen with the Sky Sports logo.
A message on viewers screens said: “We’re really sorry for this temporary fault.”
The error, which lasted for two minutes, meant fans missed the first leg of Gerwyn Price‘s clash with Michael van Gerwen, won 6-3 by the Dutchman.
When the white screen was not showing, fans were presented with adverts.
Reacting on social media one fan said: “Sky Sports just gone down for anyone else ??? Wanna watch the darts.”
A second said: “Sky Sports what a shambles, trying to watch the darts.”
A third added: “Someone in Brighton plug Sky Sports back in at the Premier League Darts.”
Another said: “Fully respect that Sky Sports Darts have got down 20 seconds into this first game tonight. State of it.”
A fifth said: “Sky Sports sort it out!!!! Trying to watch the darts.”
The broadcast then went down for a second time minutes later.
The issues persisted into the second match of the night between Chris Dobey and Luke Littler, with the game going to adverts during the second leg of the clash and marking the third time the error screen came up.
It threatened to go off again later in the game with the screen flickering to black.
One fan on social media added: “Sky Sports having a mare for the darts.”
During the sixth leg of the clash between Littler and Dobey, it went down a fourth time with the apology screen shown again.
Throughout the game there was a myriad of technical issues with the screen cutting to black and green before returning.
Commentator Wayne Mardle apologised for the “temporary issues” saying they would be “fixed momentarily” before more glitches in the broadcast.
A message at the bottom of the screen began showing which said: “We’re really sorry for the temporary pictures problems.”
The broadcast managed to remain stable during the final deciding leg between Littler and Dobey, before it went down for a fifth time.
With the issues carrying on Sky added another apology, saying: “We apologise for the loss of pictures. We are working hard to resolve the issue.”
Fans did, however, get to see Luke Humphries’ sensational nine-darter later in the night – before the coverage cut out again seconds later while the 2024 world champion was celebrating.
Humphries fiance, Kayley, took a swipe at the problems.
Taking to social media, she said: “Love watching my fiancé playing darts on Sky Sports.”
Rob Cross would then also hit a nine-darter later in the evening.
But the night was won by Luke Littler, who defeated Nathan Aspinall in the final.
