There’s nothing like jetting off for a much-needed holiday – but the reality is that it can be an expensive affair. Thankfully, one jet-setter has come up with an ultimate money-saving trick.
If you don’t live near an airport and are travelling in a group, you might consider driving for ease. It means that you can easily get your luggage from your car to the airport, and your vehicle will be waiting for you upon your return.
But airports are renowned for having hefty, unavoidable car parking fees. So some of your money you may have saved up for your holiday will have to be spent on parking.
Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis says: “Even when done right, low-cost airport parking options can be hard to find. The longer you’re away the more it costs.”
London City Airport is the most expensive destination for people looking to park for two weeks at an average of £213.14. Meanwhile at Gatwick you will be charged £193.14, Heathrow £127.99, and Stanstead £146.71. Parking is cheapest at Liverpool John Lennon Airport; drivers can leave their car for a fortnight and pay around £80.
One jet setter, Jazz, has come up with an easy trick to cut down costs on airport parking. The travel content creator says there is an easy way to park before you fly for £7 to £14 per day.
The London resident said: “Airport parking is typically very expensive, especially when done through airport official providers. I’ve seen prices starting from £100 for three days. If you’re looking for last minute, you can be looking at £120 upwards for three days.”
She insists if you download the Your Parking Space and Just Park apps you can find “cheap and secure” parking. Recently when travelling from Stansted airport, she used the apps and found she could park at the airport’s Novotel car park for less than £14 a day. “My flight was cancelled and I was able to extend for the same rate,” she explained.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, she showed how you can insert the date and time you want to park into the Your Parking Space or Just Park apps, and you will be able to see a variety of parking options listed on a map and the prices of each parking spot.
She added: “This hack is amazing. It saves me so much money when I am departing from UK airports.”
One individual who tried Jazz’s method said: “This is amazing. Thank you! I’ve just found parking near the airport for less than 1/3 of the airport parking price.”
Another commented: “This is such a great hack, I learnt from you. You have saved me so many coins.” One other added: “I just returned from Stansted three hours ago and did this exact thing using the same app. Five stars.”
