Today wraps up the NFL Draft with Rounds 4-7 today, and a few former Kentucky Wildcats are looking for their names to be called.
Two former Wildcats heard their names called yesterday, within just minutes of each other, as Andru Phillips was taken 70th overall by the New York Giants, and Trevin Wallace was taken 72nd overall by the Carolina Panthers.
Phillips will go to New York to join fellow former Wildcat Wan’Dale Robinson, and Wallace will likely be able to compete for early playing time in Carolina.
Today, it is expected that running back Ray Davis will hear his name called. Most draft scouts have Davis as one of the best running backs available. With his skills catching the ball out of the backfield, Davis has the potential to be a great versatile back in the league.
Offensive lineman Jeremy Flax is also hoping to hear his name called. Flax is part of a deep tackle class this year, which could hurt his draft position. If he isn’t drafted, I’d expect him to get a call pretty quickly from teams.
QB Devin Leary has been projected as a possible 6th or 7th-round pick as well, so it’s possible the former UK signal caller will hear his name called at some point today.
Things get tricky in these late rounds, so it’ll be interesting to see how the draft boards fall and see where former Cats will land.
