A Cambridgeshire eatery, Provenance Kitchen in Whittlesford, has been lauded as one of the UK’s top 100 spots for outdoor dining by OpenTable.
The restaurant, which boasts a serene meadow garden complete with a stretched tent to shield diners from the intense summer sun, also offers a charming courtyard space for guests.
OpenTable released the list on their website, celebrating the return of balmy weather and the joys of al-fresco dining.
The selection was meticulously curated from over two million reviews to pinpoint the finest outdoor dining experiences across the nation.
Provenance Kitchen, established by Kate Holden and Greg Proud in 2019, stands out as the sole Cambridgeshire representative on this prestigious list.
Additionally, it has recently clinched the title of ‘Best in the County’ at the 2024 Muddy Stilettos Awards, reports Cambridgeshire Live.
The establishment prides itself on sourcing many ingredients from within a five-mile radius, underscoring its commitment to local produce. It also doubles as a versatile wedding and event venue known as ‘The Orchard Barn’.
Kate Holden shared insights with CambridgeshireLive about their outdoor offerings: “We’ve got this beautiful stretched tent in our meadow garden that caters for up to about 100 covers which is the perfect space for families, people who want to bring their dogs along, and enjoy eating al fresco.
“We’ve also got our courtyard that we’re developing further, growing lots of salads and vegetables, so people can sit amongst our produce, so that’s going to be our focus really.”
Provenance Kitchen, which began with an airstream and a converted horse box, has been bringing restaurant-quality food to the streets of Cambridge. In 2019, they opened Brix + Mortar, a restaurant in Whittlesford.
The establishment, located just a short drive down the M11 from Cambridge, has gained popularity among locals over the past few years. It prides itself on its simplicity, cooking locally sourced meats, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes on a brick-built wood-fired hearth.
