Ralph Lauren kicked off New York Fashion Week last night with an extravagant fashion show set in the Hamptons – the designer’s “home away from home”.
The “special fashion experience” in Bridgehampton featured a runway showcasing a mixture of Ralph Lauren Collection, Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren, including childrenswear, with an eclectic and cultured list of guests sitting front row.
Among the galaxy of stars that attended included The Night Manager actor Tom Hiddleston, The Young Pope‘s Jude Law, R&B star Usher, and First Lady Dr Jill Biden, alongside Palm Royale’s Laura Dern, The Kissing Booth’s Joey King, and Feud star Naomi Watts. Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington took to the catwalk.
The all-American brand is known for staging immersive experiences that transport guests into the Ralph Lauren world, and the Hamptons is a place of particular significance for the label’s founder and designer – a backdrop to cherished memories spent with friends and family. “It is more than a place,” he said, in the official press release. “It’s a natural world of endless blue skies, the ocean, green fields, and white fences, rusticity and elegance with a quality of light that drew artists here decades ago. It has been home, my refuge and always an inspiration.”
The Hamptons served not only as the setting but the design influence, resulting in a collection that embodied coastal sophistication, with louche draping inspired by the region’s rugged shoreline, all in a colour palette of white and blue, “echoing the pristine sandy beaches, expansive cerulean skies, and the depths of the Atlantic Ocean”.
