Bespoke jeweller Queensmith is to open a London tuition centre in September. The Queensmith Jewellery Academy will open in the heart of the capital’s traditional jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden, promising to “redefine craftsmanship in the jewellery industry through a pioneering three-year development programme”.
In its inaugural year, the Academy will present a “unique opportunity for 12 aspiring artisan jewellers to embark on a career in fine jewellery-making while learning on the job.
Queensmith is currently recruiting “the very best in raw talent to join as full-time employees [to] train under some of London’s finest jewellers and fully integrate into the wider workshop team”.
The course will centre on goldsmithing and diamond setting and, unlike traditional courses, the Academy employs “a dynamic mix of training modules, hands-on project work and personalised coaching”.
“We’re not just teaching, we’re crafting the future of jewellery-making,” said Brett Afshar, founder and CEO of Queensmith.
“Our Academy is a place where talent meets opportunity, and where the artisans of tomorrow can grow under the mentorship of today’s best jewellers. We don’t just make jewellery at Queensmith, we make the jewellers too.”
Head of Workshop Learning & Development, Astrid Jaroslawsky, added: “Unlike other development programmes, the roles are salaried and successful candidates will be rewarded with loyalty perks throughout their Queensmith career.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for jewellery graduates to set themselves up for a life-long career in the fine jewellery trade, kick-starting with the intricacies of making exquisite engagement and wedding rings, amongst other fine jewellery.”
The chosen students’ benefits will include a £24k starting salary, £1k relocation bonus, and a £10k retention bonus after three years. Application deadline is 15 July.
