A Queensland man has been charged after allegedly inappropriately filming women and girls at a shopping centre using a camera attached to the end of his walking stick.
Jeffrey Norman Young, 56, allegedly filmed a 12-year-old girl at a shopping centre in Mount Ommaney on January 6.
The girl’s family reported the incident to police, and Young was taken into custody after being found at the shopping centre on January 11.
Police seized the man’s camera, which allegedly contained a number of indecent videos and photographs of women taken in public areas in the shopping centre without their consent.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at a private residence in Jamboree Heights where police allegedly located electronic storage devices containing similar images and videos.
Young was initially charged with three counts of observations or recording in breach of privacy, one count of indecent treatment of child under 16 (take photograph) and one count attempted observations or recordings in breach of privacy.
He appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 28 where he was remanded in custody.
