This beautiful town is the perfect place for an autumn day out – it’s just like the Cotswolds but has barely any tourists.

Stourport-on-Severn, in Worcestershire, is a Georgian town on the River Severn and a great place for a day trip or family day out.

The town has been likened to Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds which is a popular tourist destination – but one that is often overcrowded.

With a range of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and beautiful walks, there is something for everyone in Stourport.

The town is memorable for its restored and unique historic Canal Basins where over 100 boats are moored. 

In warmer weather, the nearby Riverside Meadows provide a pretty picnic area, a flat walk along the riverside and the perfect setting for music and heritage events.

One charming place to visit is the funfair – located right on the riverside, it is an iconic must-do in the area.

Treasure Island is part of Stourport’ tradition for many who have visited the town over the years – it is home to over 25 fairground rides and has some vintage style attractions.

“The staff are friendly and it’s brilliant watching the kids faces react to everything around them. The animals are varied and well cared for and the food in the cafe is fantastic!”

If you’re hoping to stop off at a few other places while visiting Stourport, it is located just 25 minutes away from Worcester.

In Worcester, you can take a stroll along the river or head into the pretty city to see the shops and restaurants which line its cobbled streets.

A must visit place is the cathedral which is an incredibly well kept work of architecture.
