Global Exchange Currency Exchange is hoping to make alterations to a unit on Buchanan Street in the city centre.
The firm has lodged a proposal to turn 160 Buchanan Street into a foreign currency exchange shop with an ATM at the shopfront.
The money exchange business submitted plans to make internal and external adjustments to the unit. At the moment, the store is empty after Timberland closed its shop in the building.
Plans to change the unit were submitted to Glasgow City Council on Valentine’s Day – Friday, February 14, 2025.
A decision is expected to be made on them by Friday, April 11. Meanwhile, the last date Glaswegians can have their say on the planning application is Wednesday, March 19.

A sign on the store’s door revealed the devastating news to punters. It read: “This store has now closed. You’re nearest Timberland store is 34 George Street, Edinburgh.”
Following its closure, the well-known retailer told the Glasgow Times it made the ‘difficult’ decision to close its store on the city’s Style Mile after ‘careful consideration’ as the lease for the building ended.
The clothing giant said the decision was not made ‘lightly’ and that it is ‘fully committed’ to helping and supporting affected store employees.

According to the new plans, the building is approximately 1,700 square feet over ground and basement floors.
