The offers company NoDeposit365.co.uk has shared the world’s most popular city break destinations according to Instagram users.
Many tourists love to take photos when they go on holiday, with many of their favourites ending up on social media platforms in order to impress friends and family.
A spokesperson for NoDeposit365.co.uk noted that looking at what social media users have to say about certain destinations can help open-minded tourists decide where they should visit next.
They explained: “Across the world, there are many popular tourist hotspots that take the form of capital cities, with this new study placing London and Paris at the top.
“For those interested in visiting beautiful cities this summer and are undecided on which ones to travel to first, this list can serve as a checklist to visit the ones deemed the most picturesque.”
Looking at the number of hashtags that relate to each location, NoDeposit365.co.uk found that London is the most Instagram-worthy city break destination, with nearly 178 million users posting a hashtag related to the area.
The capital of the UK, London has a wide range of beautiful locations that all kinds of tourists will enjoy, including plenty of wide open spaces, such as Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
The most popular attraction in the city, according to Instagram users, is the London Eye, with 3.5 million hashtags posted to the site.
Another popular choice with users of the social media platform is Paris, with the French ‘City of Love’ accumulating nearly 150 million hashtags.
Whilst the upcoming Olympic Games may help to boost the city’s popularity, Paris is always respected for its shops along the Champs-Elysées and traditional bakeries and cafes in Le Marais.
Unsurprisingly, however, the most hashtagged part of the city is the Eiffel Tower, with 7.8 million users taking to Instagram to post about it.
