Great Britain bantamweight Charley Davison is out of the Olympics after being beaten by Hatice Akbas in the preliminary round.
The 30-year-old lost to Turkey’s 2022 world champion by a 3:2 decision in a tight contest at the North Paris Arena.
Akbas won the first round on four of five cards but Davison picked up her jab to take the second round on three of five cards. She ultimately fell short, ending hopes of a deep run.
Davison, who was beaten in the second round in Tokyo three years ago, previously stated this Games would be her last.
She spent seven years away from the ring following the birth of the first of her three children, just a few months before London 2012, but returned to become a two-time Olympian.
Welterweight Rosie Eccles is due to be the next Briton to fight when she takes on Poland’s Aneta Rygielska on Sunday.
