No. 4 Alabama hands No. 8 UK 1st home loss
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – In a battle of the nation’s top two scoring offenses, No. 4 Alabama (15-3, 4-1 SEC) proved to be too much for No. 8 Kentucky (14-4, 3-2 SEC), taking down the Wildcats 102-97 inside Rupp Arena. It was UK’s first home loss of the season.
Seven Wildcats finished the day in double-figures, led by junior guard Otega Oweh with 21 points before fouling out late in the second half. Fifth year center Amari Williams had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds
Alabama fifth year forward Grant Nelson led all scorers with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
These two teams meet again Feb. 22 in Tuscaloosa.
There is no mid-week game for UK this week. They return to action Saturday, January 25 when they head to Nashville to face Vanderbilt. Tip-off is at 2:30 P.M. EST on ESPN.
