We’ve hit the home stretch in the recruitment of Nate Ament.
On Tuesday, Ament cut his list down to five schools (via Swish Cultures). Those are the Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Duke Blue Devils, Tennessee Volunteers, and Arkansas Razorbacks.
In addition, On3’s Joe Tipton reports that Ament is planning to make his college choice at the McDonald’s All-American Game, which happens April 1st. It’s not a done deal, but that’s the likely date when Ament lets the world know where he will attend college.
Tipton also said he believes Louisville has a slight lead, with Duke trailing, but not to count out Mark Pope and Kentucky.
“Kentucky remains within striking distance. Mark Pope and the Wildcats have turned all their focus to Ament and are a real contender. I am not counting them out,” wrote Tipton.
For what it’s worth, 247 Sports’ Travis Branham recently said he thought Duke was in the lead.
Sounds like we won’t have to wait much longer to learn where the consensus top-five recruit will land.
