Womenswear brand Monsoon has been slowly increasing its exposure to travel-focused locations lately — such as London Waterloo Station — and its latest opening extends that strategy as it lands at London’s Gatwick airport.
In fact, its latest openings are actually two openings with travel boutiques in both the airport’s North and South terminals.
The product offer, as expected, is travel-worthy with beachwear (including Gatwick exclusives), report pieces, accessories and a selection of casual and kidswear.
The shops themselves are an extension of the brand’s small boutique concept that has been implemented in key locations such as Islington in London and Edinburgh.
The brand has a relatively small store estate, these openings taking its total to 25 across the UK and Ireland. Included in that number are 10 boutiques and three travel stores, although the company also operates the very much larger Accessorize chain that has hundreds of stores.
Monsoon CEO Nick Stowe said the Gatwick openings put the label’s beach and resort clothing in the “right place and right time as customers fly off to the sunshine and their holiday destinations”.
He added that the company has learnt a lot from its Accessorize UK airport stores, which include one at Gatwick, and opening a Monsoon store there seems like a natural fit given the brand’s boho roots.
