It was a momentous weekend around the Bluegrass on several accounts, namely Kentucky men’s tennis repeating as SEC champions on Sunday with their 4-2 defeat of South Carolina. It marked the Wildcats’ third SEC Tournament title in program history.

In doubles, Kentucky took two out of three.

• Joshua Lapadat & JJ Mercer (UK) defeated Toby Samuel & James Story, 7-6.
• Taha Baadi & Jack Loutit (UK) defeated Jelani Sarr & Lucas Da Silva, 6-3.
• Casey Hoole & Sean Daryabeigi (SC) beat Eli Stephenson & Jaden Weekes, 6-4.

For singles competition, Kentucky also took the advantage.

• Samuel (SC) defeated Baadi (UK) 6-4, 6-2.
• Lapadat (UK) defeated Story (SC) 6-4, 6-1.
• Daryabeigi (SC) defeated Weekes (UK) 6-4, 6-1.
• Charlelie Cosnet (UK) defeated Da Silva (SC) 7-5, 6-3.
• Stephenson (UK) defeated Carter Morgan (SC) 7-6, 6-3.
• Loutit (UK) and Sarr (SC) went unfinished.

The Wildcats were the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and are — as of Sunday — sit at No. 4 in the ITA rankings. They enter the Big Dance with a 24-2 record, losing to only Alabama back in January and Duke in February.

The NCAA Tournament selection show for men’s tennis is scheduled for next Monday, April 29th.
