Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex has a major new addition to its fashion line-up. Mango has opened a new 440 sq m store that continues the Spanish fashion giant’s rollout of its ‘New Med’ concept.
The new store is part of Mango’s expansion and brand consolidation plan in the UK with more than 20 store openings planned for 2024. The latest location comes after a Gateshead Metrocentre flagship opened this summer.
Daniel López, Director of Expansion and Franchising, previously said: “The UK is one of the priority markets for Mango’s international growth. Our arrival this year in some cities where we have not been present until now will consolidate the Mango brand and help us to strengthen it internationally.”
Lakeside is one of the UK’s major malls and serves a large catchment area in Essex and beyond, also attracting strong traffic from the other side of the river in Kent.
Howard Oldstein, Director at Lakeside Shopping Centre, said: “Mango will be a welcomed addition to Lakeside’s already top-tier and diverse retail offering. As a leading shopping destination, we know Mango’s store will really resonate with our customers and look forward to seeing them embrace this new addition.”
Drawing inspiration from Mediterranean design elements “sustainability and architectural integration” are key to the design concept of the store, which creates a Mediterranean look and feel achieved through a combination of colour and texture for the womenswear store that features apparel, accessories, and footwear.
Different spaces see warm tones and neutral colours merged with traditional, handcrafted, sustainable and natural materials such as ceramics, wood, marble, esparto grass and leather.
