TNT Sports will absorb Eurosport 1 and 2 with the two iconic sporting channels set to disappear from UK TV screens at the end of February in Warner Bros latest move
Eurosport is set to disappear from UK TV screens.
TNT Sports has announced it will acquire Eurosport’s live television rights in the UK and Ireland from the end of February 2025. The channels will now be integrated into TNT Sports’ scheduling.
“Combining Eurosport and TNT Sports content in the UK and Ireland will enable us to offer a single, premium viewing experience for sports fans,” said Scott Young, senior vice-president at WBD Sports Europe.
“We know audiences are looking for a slightly simpler journey on where to find the sport they love. This move will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners, as we continue our 35 years plus commitment to investment and championing of sport on our screens.”
Key sports such as snooker, tennis, cycling and the Olympics will now be broadcast on TNT Sports and available to stream on Discovery+, with the switch occurring on 28 February next month.
However, sports fans will now have to pay for the premium version of the streaming site – setting them back £30.99.
“We’re building out the best sports and entertainment profile we have in this country,” Young added. “People can choose to make their decision as to how they want to engage with us in the short term. We are investing in cycling.
“What’s more important is the ecosystem of sports content in this market, and for sports fans now to come to one destination, and not try and pick which destination they’ve got to go to.”
Eurosport channels and the brand will remain outside of the UK and Ireland in more than 50 territories across Europe.
