Homes and roads have seen flooding across parts of the UK during heavy rain, particularly in Wales, with more than 100 flood warnings in place across England alone.
An EMR spokesman said: “The heavy rain has flooded the railway and also caused a bank-slip in the area.
“This means it is now unsafe for us to run our services on the Intercity route between Kettering and Leicester.
“Unfortunately the diversionary route we would usually have is not available either, also because of flooding.
“We are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move, however we have been unable to resource these at the moment, therefore if you wish to continue your journey you may have to find your own way to complete this.”
