Liverpool One’s success isn’t restricted to attracting big and niche retailers. The retail and entertainment destination is celebrating a double award win after scooping accolades for its commitment to both the environment and the site’s heritage.
For the first time, it has been awarded Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Historic England, which recognises the “commitment of Liverpool One enhancing and putting the spotlight on the heritage across the site for visitors to enjoy”.
Meanwhile, Chavasse Park, which is located in the heart of the complex, has retained its Green Flag Status, a government-backed accolade, awarded by Keep Britain Tidy, for the 12th consecutive year “in recognition of its excellent condition”.
The five-acre park is host to a range of seasonal events which, this year, includes being one of the official Team GB & ParalympicsGB Fan Zones across the UK.
Such awards may not seem important but they do resonate with consumers. And when they’re making decision about where to conduct their shopping trip or which nearby attraction to visit, the knock-on effect for retail sales can be huge.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director, said: “Bringing communities together is at the core what we do [and] we take pride in bringing our green spaces and heritage to play centre stage whether that’s through hosting sporting activities, music and entertainment, or simply taking some time out together as a family or group of friends.”
She added: “To be awarded the Green Heritage Site Accreditation… is also a huge achievement for us, as we’re incredibly committed to paying tribute to our rich history, through initiatives such as our Heritage Trail, our work in Memorial Garden and the partnership with National Museums Liverpool with The Old Dock Tour.”
