Consumer events have played a big part in increasing shopping centre footfall this year and Lakeside is hoping its latest presentation will build early fashion momentum heading into the important final quarter trading period.
The Essex mall is to present the ‘Re:style Studio’ Autumn/Winter Styling Event, a two-day celebration of fashion and styling set to take place this weekend (12–13 October).
The event aims to blend fashion trends with eco-friendly practices, inviting shoppers “to inspire their wardrobes and explore the latest trends while preparing for the upcoming season”.
It will showcase a variety of workshops from colour matching to how to dress for your body shape and provide opportunities to put upcycling into action.
Fashion and celebrity stylist Ellis Ranson will present a series of talks to help shoppers “address their personal style challenges and prepare their wardrobes for the season”.
Also appearing will be ‘slow-fashion’ designer Lydia Bolton who will also offer free workshops “to help customers make more ethical wardrobe choices”. She will lead interactive upcycling workshops where attendees can “participate in a patchwork session to breathe new life into an old garment or can try creating a unique bag charm”.
Her workshops also offer a chance to learn the art of reusing old clothing, with shoppers encouraged to bring along their own garments.
Sustainable podcaster Bianca Foley will also be educating the audience on topics ranging from autumn/winter trends to building a capsule wardrobe as well as hosting a discussion with Bolton, where they will share insights including “how to discover hidden gems that might already be in your wardrobe”.
In addition to these workshops, the Re:style Studio will feature mood boarding drop-in sessions, allowing visitors to create their ideal wardrobe using curated materials.
Shoppers will also be able to personalise their old T-shirts with custom slogans or can opt for blank canvas make-up bags and branded tote bags for a small charity donation.
One participant will also have a chance to win a £250 ‘shopping spree’ at Lakeside.
