LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf program and Maggie Carlson have signed an agreement, it was announced by head coach Golda Borst on Wednesday. Carlson, the No. 1 ranked player from the state of Illinois in the Class of 2025, according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, will be a part of the incoming class that will compete in the fall of 2025.

Maggie Carlson, an Inverness, Illinois, native, is the No. 1 ranked player from the state of Illinois in the Class of 2025, according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. She played three years at Saint Viator High School (2021-23), earning Most Valuable Player honors each season with the Lions. In 2022, Saint Viator High School earned third place as a team and Carlson earned third place as an individual at the Illinois High School Association State Tournament. For her efforts that season, she was named to the All-State First Team.
In addition to high school girls golf, Carlson also plays on the American Junior Golf Association circuit and the Illinois Junior Golf Association tour. In 2022 and 2023, she qualified for both the IMG Junior Worlds and the Junior PGA Championship. In 2023, she also qualified for the U.S. Girls’ Junior.
This year, she has two finishes inside the top 10 and three finishes inside the top 15 on the AJGA circuit, most recently claiming fourth place at the AJGA Randy Wise Junior Open in August. There, she strung together scores of 71, 71 and 76 for a 2-over-par 218.
Before that, Carlson also earned 12th place at the 2024 Dye Junior Invitational in June.
