We already knew Kentucky Basketball was in for a busy week with transfer portal visits, and that’s really coming to a head this weekend.
Per 247 Sports’ Travis Branham, Wake Forest center Andrew Carr is set to visit Lexington this weekend, which comes after seeing Texas Tech. He’ll also visit Villanova.
Carr has one year of eligibility remaining.
An unranked class of 2020 recruit, Carr began his college career at Delaware, where he stayed two seasons before transferring to Wake Forest, where he’s been the past two years.
Last season, the 6-foot-11, 230-pound Carr averaged 13.5 points on 52.6% shooting (37.1% from 3-point range on 2.8 attempts per game), 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 32.5 minutes per game.
Kentucky already has a pledge from Drexel center Amari Williams and will host Utah State forward Great Osobor next week, so we could see the primary frontcourt players for next season locked up by next week.
A new name in the transfer portal is San Diego State guard Lamont Butler, who was part of the Aztecs’ Final Four run in 2023.
According to FOX Sports’ Aaron Torres, Kentucky is among the schools that’ve contacted Butler.
The senior will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Originally a 2020 signee for the Aztecs, Butler became a full-time starter by his second college season and has consistently been one of the best defensive point guards ever since.
This past season, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound California product averaged 9.3 points (42.1% shooting and 30.2% on 3s), 3.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 27.6 minutes per game. He’s a three-time member of the Mountain West All-Defensive Team and the 2023-24 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.
You may remember Butler as the man who drained a buzzer-beater vs. Florida Atlantic at the 2023 Final Four and sent the Aztecs to their national championship game appearance.
He good.
