Mark Pope has his staff.
After reports last Friday of Jason Hart, Cody Fueger, and Mark Fox surfaced that they would be added to the new staff of the Kentucky Wildcats, the question then shifted to who would be the last member added?
For a brief second, it seemed like Kenny Payne or Orlando Antigua might round out the staff, but with Payne in Arkansas and Antigua in Illinois, the mystery hire remained.
Now, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, Baylor Bears assistant coach Alvin Brooks III has accepted the job to join Pope’s staff.
NEWS: Top Baylor assistant Alvin Brooks III is leaving the Bears to join Mark Pope’s staff at Kentucky, sources tell @CBSSports. He spent the past eight years under Scott Drew and will be associate HC @ UK. Brooks is highly respected in the profession. It’s a major coup for Pope.

Brooks, originally from Houston, has spent the last eight seasons on the staff in Waco. Previously, he also had a stop at Kansas State for four seasons, Sam Houston State, and Bradley.
With the hire, Pope now adds another star recruiter to the mix. Brooks, during his time at Baylor, is credited as the lead recruiter for Keyonte George, Ja’Kobe Walter, and the latest five-star recruit added to the mix for the Bears, VJ Edgecombe. Pairing him alongside Hart and Fueger now adds an excellent group of recruiters to bring in the new era of Kentucky Basketball.
Alongside the recruiting aspect, Brooks also brings an excellent mind to Lexington for the X’s and O’s, as he has helped Scott Drew turn the Baylor program into a contender over the last handful of years.
Now, he gets the chance to do that for the Cats.
This is a great hire for Pope. Now, let’s go get our roster.
Welcome to the BBN, Alvin!
