Could Mark Pope add his first former McDonald’s All-American in the transfer portal? Stanford transfer wing Andrej Stojakovic is interested in Kentucky — and the feeling is mutual.

The former four-star sharpshooter previously told KSR+’s Jacob Polacheck he had been in contact with Pope and new assistant coach Cody Fueger since entering the portal, and now, things are ramping up. In fact, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello is reporting that the Wildcats are “heavily involved” for Stojakovic, joining the likes of Cal-Berkeley, North Carolina and Michigan as potential options.

“The latest on Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic, according to sources. Took a visit to Cal last weekend and the Bears are very much in the mix,” Borzello wrote. “North Carolina and Kentucky are also heavily involved, as is Michigan. Likely to take another visit this weekend, nothing finalized. Others in pursuit include Creighton, Washington, USC and Louisville.”

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward out of California averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9% from the field and 32.7% from beyond the arc as a freshman in 2023-24. He is currently rated as the No. 50 overall prospect in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Ranking.

What does the former Burger Boy know about the Wildcats under Pope?

“Coach Pope’s playing style over the past couple of years at BYU is definitely intriguing,” Stojakovic told KSR+. “Just playing fast and being able to shoot a lot is something that speaks to me. … It’ll definitely be exciting to see what Coach Pope can do for the program. I don’t know much. I’ve never been to the state of Kentucky, but I’ve heard a bunch of great things about the fanbase.”

As for what he’s looking for in his next school, he wants to prove he come in right away and contribute as a wing.

“I’ll bring scoring and versatility on the defensive end,” he added. “That’s the main thing, being able to contribute right away to a winning program.”

After entering the portal on March 19, he will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop. Will that be Lexington?
