Kaia Gerber might have forged her own path in the fashion industry as a model – and now an actor in Hollywood – but she’s never one to shy away from paying homage to those who have gone before her, namely her own mother, supermodel Cindy Crawford.
At the premiere of her new film Shell at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Thursday night, Gerber – who has been sporting ‘liquid’ chocolate brown hair in recent weeks – paid tribute to her famous mother with her red carpet look.
The model looked near identical to her mother in a white Hervé Leger body-con, ankle-grazing dress with a sweetheart neckline – a recreation of the custom-made dress Crawford wore to the Academy Awards in 1993.

Gerber’s stylist Molly Dickson has revealed that the actor sent her a mood board for TIFF and once of her references was her mother’s iconic look.
The star styled her TIFF look with a pair of white pointed-toe heels, also opting to borrow jewellery her mother’s vintage diamond collection as well as an Omega watch for the occasion.
Days earlier, Gerber dressed in a black archival Donna Karan halter-neck dress for the premiere of her up-coming film, Saturday Night. The dress featured a navel-deep plunging neckline.
Earlier this summer, the mother-daughter duo wore their respective takes on the LBD during the opening night of OMEGA House Paris in France. For the event, Crawford wore a black cowl-neck midi dress while Gerber opted for an A-line mini dress number, featuring a peekaboo-like bodice.
In 2018, Gerber revealed to Harper’s Bazaar that she often raids her mum’s wardrobe. ‘I definitely take a lot of her vintage pieces because those are the most iconic to me,’ Gerber noted. ‘We’re not the same shoe size which is really upsetting to me because I thought that I could steal all of her shoes!’
