Announcing your departure on LinkedIn is popular this year. Just a day after Dr Martens’ creative director did just that, John Lewis Partnership’s customer director has taken the same approach.
Charlotte Lock has been in the role since March 2022 and said in her post: “After three intense, rewarding and super-fun years, I am leaving JLP for a role which is a personal passion (more on that in a later post!) For now I want to thank the talented JLP Customer team, fellow partners (past and present) and agencies for your friendship and support over the years. It’s been a privilege and I’m so proud of all we have achieved together. I wish you all every success and happiness.”
While at John Lewis she’s been in charge of customer strategy, propositions, brand, marketing, channels, customer experience, digital product, store development and VM, marketing tech, and loyalty.
She was instrumental in the recent three-part campaign launched as part of the company bringing back its ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ price promise with Lock having said that it was important to bring the company’s shops back into the limelight and give them a starring role in the campaign.
Before she joined the department stores-to-supermarkets group, she was at the Co-op for two years following almost nine years spent at the BBC in a variety of senior roles.
On news of her departure, a John Lewis Partnership spokesperson said: “Charlotte has made a significant contribution to our business. Under her customer leadership, we have grown customer numbers, our loyalty programmes, our net promoter scores and brand and customer satisfaction metrics.
“Charlotte led the relaunch of our JLP brand identity and John Lewis brand promise; introduced distinctive shop and online propositions; drove the growth of our retail media business; as well as leading our Christmas campaigns.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Charlotte for her dedication and contribution to the transformation of JLP and wish her all the best for the future.”
