Jet2, Ryanair, Easyjet and TUI passengers have been warned over “trouble” for an airport rule which is catching “90 per cent of holidaymakers out”.
New research, by Vape Globe, shows that up to 90% of Brits have been having trouble with some common flying rules.
Packing rules were frequently misunderstood in the survey with two thirds (67%) thinking that taking your own food to the airport was illegal when it is in fact perfectly acceptable.
In addition to this, 32 per cent of Jet2, Ryanair, Easyjet and TUI passengers were also deeply confused by the liquid allowance in hand luggage, with a third not knowing the correct limit.
Other puzzling packing rules included how to correctly take vapes abroad. 80% of those surveyed incorrectly answered questions on vaping, with Brits still thinking that you can pack vapes in hold luggage.
In fact, they must be taken through security in your on-board bags and sealed in a clear plastic bag. More shockingly, 10% of Brits thought vaping on the plane was legal, with up to one in five Millennials believing this to be true.
Staying on the topic of tobacco, 50% of us still think we can purchase as many duty free cigarettes as we like, when there are in fact set limits per person.
And, one in 10 incorrectly believe that you can take lighters in hold luggage however lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked bags.
Markus Lindblad of Vape Globe commented: “Travelling abroad is so exciting, but clearly comes with some confusion for holidaymakers.
The data clearly shows that Brits are a little in the dark on a number of topics including packing rules, liquid allowances, and particularly vapes.”
“As a nicotine retailer, we often get asked about the various rules and restrictions on vapes, cigarettes and nicotine products in the airport, on the plane, and even once abroad on holiday.
It’s a minefield! The best thing to do is pack alternative nicotine products so that you’re not getting into any trouble with airport security.”
