Jet2 has issued a warning for passengers travelling to the UK’s East Midlands Airport due to major roadworks.
A spokesperson for the holiday company said: “We have been made aware of road works between Junction 23a and Junction 25 on the M1, one lane will be permanently closed on the Northbound and Southbound carriageways with a 50mph speed restriction in place.
“Delays are likely during peak hours.
“There will be sporadic closures of Junction 23a slip roads, between the hours of 10pm and 6am. There will be signed diversions.”
Jet2 has warned passengers travelling to the airport to allow extra time for their journey as all its flights are expected to operate as normal.
Jet2’s check in desks generally open two and a half hours before a flight’s scheduled departure time.
The check in desks will usually close around 40 minutes before the flight is due to depart.
At some airports, passengers are able to drop off their bags the night before their flight, using the airline’s Twilight Check-in Service.
Jet2 recently announced it would offer three new routes from Birmingham Airport this summer.
The airline is set to fly to Tivat in Montenegro, Bergen in Norway and Lesvos in Greece from the airport.
It also recently launched flights from Edinburgh to Malta while it now operates flights from Bournemouth Airport.
