West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby has been charged with violent conduct after punching an opponent in their pre-season game against Real Mallorca.
The Republic of Ireland international hit Samu Costa in the face following a challenge by the Portuguese player in the first half on 27 July.
The two then clashed on the ground with team-mates having to pull them apart.
Costa also appeared to swing an arm at 24-year-old Molumby after the Irishman shoved his head into the Mallorca midfielder.
Molumby was taken off at half-time in the behind-closed-doors game after the referee stopped the first half early following the incident.
He has until 9 August to respond to the Football Association charge.
