Twenty-four players from the 2025 class were selected to participate in the annual contest. While the list of players comprises some of the best of the best in prep basketball, there were some notable snubs, including a future Kentucky Wildcats guard.
Jasper Johnson was not selected, and 247 Sports listed Johnson as one of the biggest snubs.
One of the biggest snubs of this year’s crop is future Kentucky guard Jasper Johnson. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Atlanta (Ga.) Overtime Elite has long been one of the top guards in the class with a specialty for scoring the basketball.
Playing for Team Thad on the EYBL Circuit, Johnson averaged 17.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists in ten games and has followed it up at OTE averaging 19.9 points, six rebounds and 5.7 assists.
Johnson is a naturally talented scorer with tremendous length who has ranked inside the Top 25 for the last 19 months.
It really is a surprise that Johnson wasn’t selected. He’s ranked 19th overall by On3 and 20th overall by 247 Sports.
Nonetheless, not being selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but Johnson certainly deserved a selection.
Future Wildcat Malachi Moreno was selected for the All-Star game, and it’s a shame we won’t see that duo participate in the McDonald’s festivities together.
