Paris Fashion Week has wrapped – and, as always, the last official stop on the month-long circuit was Louis Vuitton, a show which saw Nicolas Ghesquière explore the fascinating oxymoron of “soft power”. Attending the show was a star-studded stream of faces, which included British actress Jasmine Jobson, who wore a directional look by the house in the form of an oversized leather jacket, a statement hat and iridescent boots.
“The minute I saw that look on the runway I mentally earmarked it for Jasmine,” her stylist, Cheryl Konteh, tells us. “It’s feminine, futuristic and fabulous. I knew that Jasmine would look incredible in this outfit. We both fell in love with it immediately.”
Jobson has already worn an array of Louis Vuitton looks on the red carpet, and is certainly making a name for herself in fashion. According to both the actress and her stylist, there is nothing she won’t try.
“Working with Jasmine is always so much fun, she lights up the room with her personality,” Konteh said. “Jasmine is like a chameleon – she can wear a tracksuit and look super cool, street, ready to go, and can then switch to a runway look and kill it with elegance and poise. She’s a dream to work with.”
Below, see what happened when we caught up with the actress as she was getting ready for the show, where she opened up about her unrivalled confidence and why she’s always channelling her inner Zendaya.
“I saw this piece when I was at the Barcelona cruise show, and immediately fell in love with it. When I went in for my fitting and I saw it, I was super duper excited and I knew it was what I wanted to wear. So, I am very excited to put it on. It’s futuristic, it’s strong, it’s precise. I’m wearing the full runway look, including the amazing matching hat. So, yes I can’t wait to wear it.”
“I work really closely with Cheryl – she is my favourite stylist and together, we really push the boundaries. I was so excited to work with her and it’s been great.”
“Everything, everything, the look, everything. Nicolas [Ghesquière] is an absolute GOAT at what he does. It’s absolutely amazing the way that he’s pushing boundaries and creating trends. He’s very futuristic but with a slight nod towards the past. I really am in awe of his work.”
“I love absolutely everything to do with it – just getting to watch the models walk, to see those designs coming down the catwalk. I love seeing what the designer has come up with for the season and just being in that environment, experiencing the aesthetics of where they have chosen to have the show. I honestly just love everything about the experience. It’s a beautiful art and I am very excited to be a part of it. It’s also a slight nod to my grandmother as well because she used to model, so I like that I am following in her footsteps in a way.”
“Honestly, no, not at all. I have always just been so excited to be there and have completely taken it in my stride, I can’t lie. It’s such a beautiful world and I am so grateful to be a part of it. The best thing is getting to wear the pieces I have seen on the runway – I mean who is not going to love that?”
“Other than being here in Paris with Louis Vuitton and attending their show today, I would have to say their cruise show in Barcelona. It was beautiful – it really stood out for me.”
“I love to switch up my style – it changes all the time, everything is different with me. It depends what side of the bed I wake up on to be honest. My style is very different day to day – I love though that I feel comfortable in anything. I love taking risks with fashion, it’s a beautiful form of art. I have always been a bit of a style chameleon – I’ve always said that I could wear a bin bag and look amazing. Put me in a bin bag, it will still be a showstopper.”
“All the time, all the time – honestly, if I don’t pour anything but love into myself, then it’s going to be very difficult for me to have the kind of confidence that I do, to be able to step onto red carpets and face the camera. You can’t do that if you don’t love yourself and so I am a really confident girl.”
“Oh, if we’re talking a celebrity, I would have to say Zendaya. Her looks are absolutely phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal. She can walk, let me tell you that – she knows how to hold herself. I am always channelling my inner Zendaya to be honest, although today I think I am channelling my inner Beyonce.”
“I will have music on, a bit of old school garage – or I will watch a little series, something like that. Honestly, usually I am just chilling with my agent and my glam team and I love it.”
