A football fan said he felt “on top of the world” as he arrived at his school prom on a head-turning tractor in a nod to his beloved Ipswich Town.
Evan, of Brantham, Suffolk, pulled up at Manningtree High School, Essex, in a large green and yellow tractor while wearing a blue suit and Hawaiian-style Town shirt.
The 16-year-old did not know the farming vehicle would be available until the day when his mum Angela, 57, surprised him with the news she had managed to secure it.
“I thought instead of getting a normal car I may as well get a tractor as it would be quite cool and stand out and it all links [to Ipswich Town],” said Evan.
“I don’t think people actually thought I would get a tractor and I was slightly nervous driving in to school but then I thought ‘this is sick because I am in a tractor’.
“I just felt on top of the world.”
Evan, whose favourite player is Conor Chaplin, only missed three Ipswich Town home games last season, as the team cemented its place in the Premier League.
His mum and grandad have been lifelong fans of the club, with Angela remembering watching the team lift the FA Cup when she was a child.
She managed to hire the tractor free of charge after reaching out to a local company.
“I wasn’t 100% sure it was going to work out but I am so pleased it did because it was nice to do something unique,” said Angela.
“I was so chuffed when it came together and I had a big beaming smile on my face when this massive tractor turned up – it was a really lovely feeling.
“There were a lot of posh cars and then this great big tractor towering over everybody came through the gates – it was quite funny.”
After leaving his mark on Manningtree High School, Evan is now planning to go to college in Colchester or Suffolk to study maths, chemistry, physics, and history.
