As the above-mentioned charging points supply 350 kW of power, EV owners in the UK can now recharge their vehicles up to 80 per cent within ten minutes. Moreover, renewable energy from wind, solar, or hydroelectric replenishes the chargers. Village Hotel Club says the charging facility is accessible to the general public, local communities and hotel guests. Thus, the ultra-rapid EV charging apparatus promises fast and convenient electric charging while promoting cleaner and greener communities.
According to reports, the partnership aligns with the UK government’s vision to see that 80 per cent of cars in the EU are electric by 2030. Kelli Turner, General Counsel and Director of ESG at Village Hotel Club, said: “The UK’s shift to a greener future requires action from all – particularly corporates. At Village, we’re proud to play a role in supporting this shift through the installation of ultra-rapid chargers across our estate.”
Apart from the deal with Ionity, Village Hotel Club is pursuing other projects to promote a sustainable green economy in the UK, which has earned the company a Bronze Award for Green Tourism. The projects focus on the following initiatives:
“Ultra-rapid charging is a foundation of the EV revolution across the UK, making EV driving easier and more accessible than ever before,” remarked Ionity’s Country Manager of UK & Ireland, Andreas Atkins, adding: “I am genuinely excited about our agreement with Village Hotels to deliver 33 charging hubs across their nationwide portfolio. It is an important collaboration for both the crucial Village Green programme and our plans to more than quadruple the number of publicly available stations and charging points in the UK by 2025.”
