The country’s first indoor golf simulator based in a leisure centre has opened in Maidenhead.
Powered by Trackman Technology, ENGOLF now has a new home at Braywick Leisure Centre for golfers of all ages and abilities.
The private, customer-operated simulator room is already open at Salt Hill Activity Centre in Slough, but Braywick is the first leisure centre in the UK to provide it.
ENGOLF founder Simon Shirreffs said: “After living in the Maidenhead area for the last 5 years, I am delighted to bring ENGOLF to Braywick Leisure Centre.
“Golf is a fantastic sport, however playing outdoors is very time-consuming, expensive and heavily weather dependent.
“Our indoor golf simulator resolves all of these issues and locating it inside a leisure centre makes golf more accessible to a wider demographic.”
ENGOLF provides affordable and accessible opportunities for everyone to learn and play golf, following recent advancements in indoor golf simulation technology making it ‘feel like the real thing’.
The company wants complete beginners to learn without feeling self-conscious, advanced golfers to learn everything they need to know about their swing and golf groups to meet on a regular basis.
The simulator room is also ‘perfect’ to introduce youngsters to golf, for elderly golfers to continue enjoying their beloved game and for disabled golfers to practice in comfort.
“When it comes to practising golf, outdoor driving ranges are useful, however, if you really want to improve your game then an indoor simulator is without doubt the best option,” added Simon.
“So regardless of whether you are a complete beginner looking to take up the sport, or a golf fanatic who wants to start taking their practice seriously, ENGOLF is the perfect facility for you.”
Golfers can choose between ‘Gun Games’, and ‘Serious Practice’ sessions or enjoy a full round of Virtual Golf, choosing from over 300 courses including St. Andrews (Old Course) and Wentworth (West).
Sessions are 55 minutes with prices starting from £18.
Users can bring their own clubs or a small selection of adult clubs, and a full selection of kids’ (up to 10 years) clubs is available.
Leisure Focus operations director Andrew Kennedy said: “ENGOLF is great fun in a box! It’s a fantastic new addition to the activities on offer at Braywick.
He added: “We are always looking to bring new and exciting activities to the leisure centres across the Royal Borough and this is another example of providing an opportunity, on-site, for thousands of residents of individuals and families to enjoy golf.”
England Golf recently launched a ‘Respect in Golf’ movement to drive participation and inclusivity in the sport, which is ‘epitomised by what ENGOLF is providing with its indoor golf simulators’, it said.
In a statement, England Golf added: “This is a fantastic new initiative that is sure to inspire people to come and have a go at golf and see just how fun it is.”
Bookings can be made through the Leisure Focus website or Mobile App.
Private lessons are also available and a selection of introductory classes are running until December 31, 2024.
