A woman went on holiday to Turkey and was left totally shocked by the price of the food at the airport.
Hayley Duffy opened up about the situation on TikTok where she claimed she doesn’t know how they get away with it. The hefty price tags were spotted at Dalaman Airport, and she dubbed them as a “joke”. In the clip, she said: “The food prices at Dalaman Airport are a joke. Wait for it… 20 euros for a quarter pounder. 20 euros.”
Since she shared the video, it’s been liked over 7,000 times, and people were quick to share their thoughts too. Many couldn’t get over just how expensive it was to sample a basic meat patty.
It left Hayley furious, as she just couldn’t believe how expensive it was. She simply had to tell anyone online about her experience.
One person said: “Cost me £120 for five of us to have McDonald’s.” Another wrote: “Been going to Turkey for 20 years. This was my last year. It’s gone crazy over there.”
A third replied: “Dearest airport in the world.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I still can’t believe people pay it. So many warnings on the internet. Eat before and take snacks.”
Others also said many other airports are the same, and prices always seem to be expensive. None the less, few people were amused by it. One even said the prices at Dalaman are “ridiculous”, and admitted they think things can be overpriced.
It comes after tourists claimed Turkey will become empty “within years” as prices have jumped so much at popular destinations.
Videos are emerging on TikTok of many people opening up about the situation, as they can’t believe how quiet the country has been this summer. One traveller, known as slimwadie5, explained he’s seen a big difference in prices within the last year.
For example, he came across a speed boat trip, that worked out as being £120 for an hour’s journey. He added: “I went on a boat trip the other day, £20 it was, and that was alright – that was reasonable.
“I went to Burger King and it was £5 – that’s cheap. I’m sat in this place now – for a burger it’s £12. For a water it’s £2 – it’s becoming like London prices.
“My sister, and her little family, said they’re not going to come back again, because they’re just. I’ve seen some posts on here where people are saying, give it a few more years, and Turkey’s going to be dead.”
Burger King has been approached for comment.
